With cold and flu season in full swing across the country, it is important to be on high alert to help prevent the spread of germs. Here are a few tips to help you navigate your way through flu season if travel is on your agenda.
1~ It’s not too late for a Flu Shot. Although the flu vaccine is normally recommended for the fall months – if you have not yet gotten vaccinated, it may be a good idea before traveling to help ensure your health. Remember the vaccine takes up to two weeks to start working in your system, so be sure to schedule a doctor visit accordingly.
2 ~ Practice Healthy Habits. Keep your hands off your face – especially away from your eyes, nose and mouth. Thoroughly wash your hands with warm water and soap for at least 20 seconds to kill germs.
3 ~ Cover Up. Don’t forget to cover your mouth when sneezing and coughing. It’s always best to sneeze or cough into a #Kleenex tissue but if one is not available, the proper thing to do is to use the crook of your elbow. Doing this helps keep germs off your hands.
4 ~ Keep Your Distance. Try to avoid people that are visibly sick. If someone close to you is coughing or sneezing, turn your head away from them. This is especially important in tight spaces like airplanes, elevators and also using ground transportation.
When traveling, carry #Purel hand sanitizer with you that is at least 60% alcohol, and use it frequently. It is also a good idea to bring some #Clorox disinfectant wipes to use on germy places that you may encounter, such as the airplane’s seat back tray; as well as your hotel room’s remote controls, door knobs and light switches.
There is no way to completely ward yourself from catching germs this season while you are traveling on the roads or sky, but another way to help the fight is to drink plenty of water, eat a healthy diet and try to get at least eight hours of sleep every night. Helping to keep your body strong is one of the best ways to fight off germs.
