Think back to the last networking event you attended…
How did you choose the people that you wanted to meet? Whether you realize it or not, you were reading the body language of others.
Subliminally, you watched their movements, posture, and gestures to decide. All of those nonverbal cues helped you make a quick decision about everyone in the room.
People are reading your body language the same way. What are you conveying and relaying with your daily body language?
Why is Body Language Critical?
Even if they don’t mean to, people are reading body language like it’s their job. It’s the most powerful form of nonverbal communication in this life. But why is it so important?
Body language—intentionally or unintentionally—tells people about your stance, your confidence, and your story.
For example, when you stand up straight and keep an open posture (more on this below), you come off to others as confident and friendly.
It’s important to maximize your nonverbal communication and send a positive message to anyone that lays eyes on you. It will benefit you in both your personal and professional life.
