The middle of summer has arrived! You’re roasting kabobs on the grill, lounging out by the pool, and spending quality time with your kids who are home from school. But no warm and sunny season is complete without a family trip to the beach. Get your picnic basket packed, your sunscreen handy, and head for the sand with these beach etiquette tips.
Dress Appropriately: When choosing a swimsuit, remember to keep the family environment in mind. If you would blush running into someone you know, your swimsuit is probably a little too revealing for the beach.
Minimize Public Displays of Affection: With sparkling blue waters, gorgeous sunsets, and your significant other by your side, the beach can be a romantic place; however, it’s best to save your romantic gestures for when you’re at home.
Give Others Their Space: When possible, leave at least five feet of space between your beach setup and your neighbor’s.
Keep Your Music Low: Not everyone is going to enjoy your taste for country music or your hip-hop beats. After turning your music on, make a lap around the area to check how far your tunes carry.
Be Mindful of Your Conversation: It’s easy to forget your environment when you’re having fun sunbathing with your friends. Be aware of your language and the nature of your conversations when children and families are within hearing range.
Be Careful with the Sand: It’s all fun and games until someone gets sand in their eyes! Walk – don’t run – next to sunbathers, and wait to dust off your clothes and towels until you’re in the parking lot.
Follow Park Rules: Regulations are in place so everyone can enjoy their day at the beach equally. Respect others and the environment by following the guidelines that have been posted.
