The picture to the right are a few of my friends celebrating my Birthday last year. I was thankful for many things that night…. the food ,cake, and gifts .
I was most thankful that my friends had the energy to lift their arms & put on deodorant, get a sitter, and battle their Spanx to celebrate my Birthday. We laughed a lot, ate great food, and opened gifts…but it was the laughter and time shared that I treasured most.
It recently came to my attention that August 1st is National Girlfriends Day. So I searched the
Internet to find the origins of this special day and came up empty. Oh, there are plenty of sites
that indicate this is truly a day to be celebrated, I just couldn’t find when and how it began. I
guess like any other holiday, someone had to decide this is something worth celebrating and I
would have to agree.
What would we do without our girlfriends? I think Leo F. Buscaglia said it best – “A single rose
can be my garden, a single friend…my world.”
So what does one do to celebrate “Girlfriends Day”? I tried to think of a list of the 5 most special
things girlfriends could do together…mani/pedi, day spa, favorite restaurant, chick flick, etc. But
hey, we already do those things together. No, it had to be something more personal, something
that would honor them in a special way.
I decided to list the top 5 things I love most about each of my girlfriends and I plan to give the
lists to them on August 1st. Then, of course, we will all do something fun together.
Whatever you decide to do, enjoy the special relationship you have with your girlfriends!
Wising you much happiness and success!

Great idea, Patricia! I missed the holiday, but I think I’ll still let my friends know I’m thinking of them! That includes you! (Great picture by the way, great looking group of girlfriends!)
Thanks so very much Mizz. Lopez…. :0)
