RELATIONSHIP CAPITAL

Most of us want more time, money and balance. The shortcut to that sweet trifecta is relationship building and relationship capital.

90% of all humans have a level of angst in social situations. The 10% that say they don’t care are telling a fairytale.

The Grand Arrival –
Go into an event, large or small, knowing that the words part of the event is the point of entry. We all have a level of angst at the entry point, but put social pressure on ourselves for having an unspoken shared angst at the point of entry.

The first goal of a conference to cocktail party is to meet people that look, smell, talk, act and think differently than we do.

The second goal is to set a smaller meeting – a quick coffee, long lunch, or festive dinner. Knee cap to knee cap, one-on-one or a small group.

Simple, solid, successful relationship building happens in small groups or one-on-ones.

Again, the point of the conference and cocktail party is to bring large groups together to connect, but you have to be mindful that real relationships happen in smaller numbers. Large group is for initial meeting and connection point. Then, smaller groups and one-on-ones is where the true magic happens. Most of us hang out and back slap with the same old chain gang.

You have to move about the cabin. Connect with different ages, cultures, generations, genders, as well as different levels of success from entry level, to C-level executives. In short, it happens like this:

2. Drink Coffee
3. Develop Relationship
4. Repeat

A simple and sweet way to building relationships of any kind.
