The name tag goes on your right shoulder just below your collar bone.
The gentleman has it right in the picture.
The reasoning for the name tag to be situated on the right, is our eye automatically goes to the right shoulder of a person when we shake hands.
Also note in the picture, the person to the far right is holding a drink in her right hand. We should always hold drinks in our left hand so the right hand is warm and free to shake hands.

For years, I always wore my name tag on the left shoulder because I carried my purse on the right.
It wasn’t until I went to a speakers convention that a well-known business leader stopped me and pointed out that it was on the wrong side. After being given the explanation of the “shaking hand”, it was like a light bulb went on in my brain. And, that same night, my level of “connected” networking increased.
Such a simple thing but so powerful!
