BUSINESS MEETING ETIQUETTE

| If you want to succeed in business, it’s important to make a good impression in the eyes of your colleagues, bosses, and clients. How you conduct yourself in a meeting will show your level of professionalism and will reflect on how you perform in your work. Here are 10 tips for success: | - Make sure the start time and end time are established and respected.
- Arrive prepared and at ease if presenting, not flustered, hurried, and still prepping.
- If there is food, serve yourself once as opposed to popping up and down the entire meeting.
- If using your laptop, iPad, or iPhone to record or take notes, make sure that’s all that is going on.
- Refrain from giving your co-worker the stink-eye when you catch them doing social media. It’s their career, let them manage it or dis-manage it. We all know as well as the boss when that is happening.
- Dancing, buzzing phones on a boardroom table are distracting. If you must take an emergency call step out of the room. If waiting for an emergency call, let the people around you know prior to start of meeting.
- Refrain from bringing up things that are off topic or need in-depth input near the end of meeting.
- Never, ever side talk, whisper, or start a mini subcommittee in the middle of a meeting.
- Chewing gum, exposing bunions or socks and yawning should be saved for the privacy of your living room.
- Thank the person that organized the meeting, ordered the food, and also your co-workers that shared great input and ideas. A little love goes a long way.
