20 Years ago today…
You gave me a beautiful wedding, everything a young girl could dream of. But first you asked me to marry you on bended knee. You made promises, kept them and did even more than you promised. For these things, among many others, I am a better person…a lucky person.
Thank you Bobby Rossi, for loving the rain with me, belly laughing with me often, and being afraid of clowns and ice cream truck music with me.
Thank you for intercepting the doctor at the hospital elevator and escorting him past 4 screaming women, even the one bearing twins, to my room so that he could administer that magical shot they call an epidurial. I still need to apologize to the doctor for not keeping my promise to name our child “Epideral”.
Thank you for crying tears of pride and pure happiness for me, when the publishers sent us the first printing of my book Everyday Etiquette.
Thank you for holding me tight, rather than letting me go when the storms surfaced, as they do for all marriages. When a few of the seasons were turbulent, you never let go and together we rode out the storms. Our favorite Eagle, Don Henley said it best, ” For my wedding I don’t want violins or sentimental songs about thick & thin..I want a moment of silence and a moment of prayer, for the love we’ll need to make it out there”.
Thank you for the secret you shared with me as we fell asleep, on the night that I said to you, “Don’t forget to pray for me tonight” and you retorted, “Honey, I have prayed for you every single night since I first met you in the lobby at Tampa theater 22 years ago.” Uttered in the darkness, those few words, made me exhale for the first time since age 10. It was truly the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me…That was a white horse moment. No need for castles or Paris. My heart was fully wobbled!
Thank you for kissing me each and every night before we fall asleep. You never forget! No matter how late it is or how tired we are 8,030 kisses, and I never took a single one for granted.
Your humility, honesty, and gentleman grace coupled with the continuous simple acts of love, kindness, respect and humor are the glue that keep us knitted together.
There is no way to ever thank you for giving me Jackson and Harrison. They truly are our heaven. I love our cirde solia.
Thank you for having been with me on this blessed adventure, we call our lives, and I look forward to the rest of our days together.
I love you Bobby.
